How Will You Make an Impact?

The Global Trade Compliance (GTC) specialist will serve as a point of contact for internal and external customers for all GTC matters, including HTS code classification, COO determination, export license application, audit, FTA eligibility, customs scheme application and general trade compliance support, e.g. management of trade compliance risk and problem resolution for the South East Asia region. The GTC specialist will be responsible for reviewing and resolving relevant trade compliance issues for the organization’s businesses within South East Asia Taiwan (SEAT). The GTC specialist will also provide support for trade compliance management and training.

What will you do?

Classify HS code based on product technical information
Determine COO using information in system and raw material list
Provide accurate advisory on import/export regulations and requirements for Singapore and SEAT countries
Perform screening of entities the company deals with
Liaise with internal stakeholders to manage import/export exceptions
Liaise with government agencies to ensure adherence to Singapore import/export licensing requirements
Product qualification under the various Free Trade Agreements Singapore has
Audit and assessment of trade compliance risks and flag out high-risk areas
Review and draft work instruction and processes in accordance with organizational and departmental policies and procedures
Perform regular systems updates to maintain the integrity of trade compliance data
Perform horizon scanning and update the business on new trade compliance regulations and developments
Participate and advise on ad-hoc projects
Educate and train employees on trade compliance matters
How will you get here?

Education

Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline though Science or Engineering is preferred
Experience

Preferably a minimum of 2 years trade compliance experience, or prior experience with regulatory agencies, e.g. Singapore Customs, NEA, MOH
Fresh graduate with proven analytical and communication skills may also be considered
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Good understanding of Singapore Customs and other Controlling Agencies rules and regulations
Good understanding of Singapore strategic goods control scheme and its permit application process
Familiarity with the US export control regime, including permanent export, re-export and deemed export transactions
Familiarity with import/export procedures in South East Asia and Taiwan (preferred)
Familiarity with SAP and GTS system
Good understanding of HS classification and its GIRs
Good understanding of preferential and non-preferential origin calculations
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Good command of the English language
Excellent MS Office skills
Analytical and has a curious mindset
